Diagnostics in Acupuncture
We all wish to be GOOD Acupuncturists who have the Healing Touch and an X’ray vision, and be able to offer our patients quick and lasting cures with our treatments and advice.
Well, the first step for doing this would be to make a correct Diagnosis of the Yin, Yang, Blood and Energy Situation of our Patients.
A correct Diagnosis makes 50% of our Treatment.
If our Diagnosis is wrong – then our entire Treatment would be wrong – and the Patient will not improve.
Arriving at a correct Diagnosis requires knowledge and skills. Diagnostic skills are many – Observation, History Taking, Smelling, Physical examination, Tongue and Pulse Diagnosis.
This course will deal with learning and improving these skills. And then we have a lot of information. How do we decide what is important and what is not?
Many symptoms look similar to problems in different organs. How do we differentiate? This course will deal with Differential Diagnosis – and the ‘fine-tuning’ of confusing symptoms - so you will be able to decide immediately which organ is affected here. Even if a computer is fed with all this information, it will make a diagnosis. But will this be a correct diagnosis?
Is experience an important factor? What are the most crucial twists and turns in a diagnostic journey? The information we get from the patient is important – but what is more magical is how we use our instincts to arrive at a pathway of action plan.
A good Acupuncture treatment needs a correct diagnosis of the energy status, a compatible combination of points administered in an order considering the priorities for the given moment, change of diet and lifestyle of the patient in order to heal the body and to maintain the balance which has been achieved.
